Jim Rutledge vying for Milulski’s seat
Jim Rutledge, a Republican from Jarrettsville vying for the Senate seat currently held by Democrat Barbara Mikulski, will be visiting Thurmont on Saturday morning, March 27th. A breakfast fundraiser at Thurmont’s historic Cozy Restaurant will be held at 8:30 AM. Rutledge, a MD native, was raised on a beef cattle farm in Harford County, educated at North Harford High and the University of Georgia, and earned a law degree from the University of Maryland. He currently has his own law practice, and is running as a citizen legislator with the conviction that Marylanders deserve a true conservative challenge to Mikulski in November. When asked why he is running for the US Senate, Rutledge explains, ”Maryland needs a Senator with a clear vision to create opportunity, security and prosperity for the hard working citizens of our great State. My education and training, my life’s experience and work, have given me a passion, insight, and abiding respect for the creativity and ingenuity of the human spirit. I will be guided by my belief that our greatest hope is not found in an expanding and unaffordable bureaucracy but is found in the hearts and minds of a free people.” From his solidly middle class roots, Rutledge boldly addresses the need to create jobs by encouraging the free enterprise and creativity of the American people. He believes the citizens need to be freed from the destructive burdens of excessive taxation, reckless spending, and stifling regulation. Rutledge places a high value on human dignity and is committed to defending those individual freedoms guaranteed to the people in the United States Constitution. If you are interested in attending the breakfast fundraiser at the Cozy Restaurant, please RSVP to Michelle Stanton, (301)682-4027 ormichellestanton@gmail.com. The cost is $25/person or $40/couple and includes a full Cozy breakfast buffet.
