New Thurmont Police Officer

    On September 1, 2010 Officer Jerry Morales was sworn into service by Mayor
Martin Burns.  Officer Morales retired from the Frederick Police Department
after nineteen (19) years of service and has joined the Thurmont Police
Department as a veteran officer with investigative experience.  Officer Morales
entered law enforcement in 1985 through the United States Army as a Military
Police Officer.  He served from June 1985 through February 1990 and attained the
rank of Sergeant.  From April through September 1990, he worked as a contractual
court security officer for the US Marshalls Service and performed court security
at the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington DC.  From October 1990
through October 2009, he served with the Frederick Police Department as a sworn
police officer.  His assignments included uniform patrol, mountain bicycle
patrol, canine and criminal investigations.  Officer Morales is from Pontiac
Michigan and came to Maryland through his service with the United States Army. 
He is married and has three children who are active in sports.
